Apa Nova to invest EUR 10mln in 2006.Bucharest, March 23 (InvestRomania): Apa Nova will invest some EUR 10mln in modernizing the water supply network of Bucharest.
EUR 4mln will be used to rehabilitate 35 kilometres of water pipes out of 2,468 kilometres, and EUR 6mln will be used to expand the network, says Epsica Chiru, Technical Director for Quality of Apa Nova.
In its five years of activity, the company has replaced 8% of the distribution network, thus eliminating the loss of 150 mln of cubic metres per year.
Modernization works will continue in order to reduce losses as much as possible, says Andreas Baude, General Manager of the company. This operation has no connection with the quality of the water supplied by Apa Nova. Of all inspections made, only 0.3% revealed water-quality problems. There were also some cases where the poor quality of water was due to the interior network of the building, which is supposed to be upgraded by the owner. Apa Nova does water-quality control for free for every consumer and is responsible for the water in the network, but not for the interior network of each building.
